- Turn off cold water supply under sink; open faucet to drain residual pressure.
- Position plastic mounting bracket vertically on cabinet wall with 2+ inches clearance below for cartridge swaps; secure with screws (use pencil to mark holes).
- Cut 1/4" tubing squarely (included 6 ft); push firmly into Super Speedfit inlet/outlet fittings on bracket—compatible with plastic or copper—no tools needed. Connect inlet to cold line (adapter/Teflon tape if threaded), outlet to faucet, ice maker, or dispenser.
- Hang PE-1 cartridge on bracket (align flow arrows); hand-tighten if applicable.
- Slowly turn on water; check all connections for leaks.
- Flush system 45 minutes at full flow to saturate carbon block and purge air/fines—disconnect appliances first to avoid clogs.
Tips: Flush new plumbing first to clear solder/flux. For ice makers, verify post-flush flow. Replace filter annually (1,500 gallons).
Solid carbon block filters crush activated carbon into an ultra-dense structure (0.5-10 micron rating), forcing water through a tortuous, maze-like path that maximizes contact time—far superior to granulated activated carbon (GAC)'s loose 20-micron granules, which suffer from channeling where water bypasses much of the media, leaving contaminants untouched and creating bacterial hotspots.
Unlike GAC, prone to uneven flow, reduced efficiency over time, and stagnant pockets fostering microbes, our PE-series carbon blocks eliminate bypass entirely for uniform filtration across every square inch.
They mechanically trap sediments, cysts, and particulates down to sub-micron levels while adsorbing chlorine (superior reduction rates), VOCs, bad odors/tastes, endocrine disruptors like BPA, and heavy metals such as lead and mercury—delivering higher contaminant removal, consistent performance, and predictable lifespan ideal for under-sink point-of-use purity.
Our premium solid carbon block is designed to meet or exceed the requirements of NSF/ANSI Standards 42 and 53 for aesthetic and health effects.
The Carbon Block Filter conforms to ANSI/NSF International Standards:
- NSF/ANSI Standard 42 – Aesthetic Effects
- Chemical Reduction Unit: Taste, Color, and Chlorine Reduction – Class I
- Particulate Reduction Unit: Particulate Reduction – Class I
- NSF/ANSI Standard 53 – Health Effects
- Mechanical Filtration Unit: Turbidity Reduction
Key Performance Reductions
- Removes 99% of cysts (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium)
- Removes 99% of chlorine for dramatically improved taste and odor
- Reduces sediment, rust, turbidity, pesticides, herbicides, and other organic contaminants
- Improves the quality of drinking water, ice, and other beverages
